Real Madrid To Offer Over £25m For Liverpool Prodigy Raheem Sterling

Real Madrid are reported to be keeping close tabs on Liverpool prodigy Raheem Sterling.

After a superb run of form for the Reds during the latter part of last season, the 19-year-old star – who still has three years left on his contract at Anfield – has struck a positive note for England during a disappointing World Cup campaign with starting roles against Italy and Uruguay.

It was reported that Los Blancos could be considering a move for the midfielder next summer but, according to the Mirror, Real want to seal a deal for Sterling now as they are so concerned about Cristiano Ronaldo's injury problem – even though Portugal national team doctor Henrique Jones recently dismissed fears over the Portuguese's fitness insisting he was in better physical condition than when he arrived in Brazil.

Mirror also claims the Champions League winners are ready to offer £25m-plus to secure the Jamaica-born youngster's services – even though they are also monitoring Monaco's Radamel Falcao and £70million-rated Liverpool's Luis Suarez.

Real boss Carlo Ancelotti sees Sterling as a long-term potential replacement for Argentina international Angel Di Maria, whose future at the Santiago Bernabeu is uncertain, but could consider an early move for the Liverpool starlet this summer.

But given Fifa banned the Uruguayan from all football activities for four months for biting Italy's Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup, they are unlikely to enter any negotiations about his future just yet as Brendan Rodgers will be desperate to keep Sterling at Anfield.

The Reds have already signed Rickie Lambert and Emre Can with Rodgers recently admitting he was still in the market for new stars. “We want to bring in players who are hungry. They must have the ambition to want to come in and succeed here. We need players who there can be no doubts about their quality.”
