Bas Dost scored his eighth and ninth goals of 2015 as Wolfsburg claimed a 2-1 win over Hertha Berlin on Sunday.

The Dutchman, who netted only twice in the first half of the season, put the Wolves in front after 10 minutes before supplying the winner after Julian Schieber equalised.

They were good value for their win, which puts them 10 points clear of third-placed Borussia Monchengladbach who dropped points in the day's other game.

Perhaps more importantly, Wolfsburg are now 12 ahead of Schalke in fourth, meaning they are on course for a place in the Champions League next season. Hertha, meanwhile, remain inside the bottom two.

In Sunday's only other game, Monchengladbach snatched a last-gasp equaliser at Hamburg to maintain their two-point advantage over fourth-placed Schalke.

Zoltan Stieber gave the hosts the lead in the 75th minute, but it was not enough to see Josef Zinnbauer's men through to a much-needed victory.

Branimir Hrgota made it 1-1 with a stoppage-time header to leave HSV still just two points above the relegation zone – the same gap 'Gladbach have over Schalke in the race for a guaranteed place in the Champions League next season.
