Unbalanced Manchester United Lacking Cohesion And Confidence, Says Chris Kamara

Chris Kamara has his say on a lack of cohesion at Manchester United and how selling Wilfried Bony would affect Swansea in his weekend review.

Balance not right for beaten United
It's still a work in progress at Manchester United, and trying to find the correct blend in the players they have got hasn't been easy. They have never been 100% right, that's the thing.

The last time they played Southampton, they were battered – but they won thanks to a smash-and-grab raid. This time around, Southampton showed their real defensive qualities and United found it very difficult to break them down.

It isn't quite right for United, the system isn't quite right, the confidence isn't quite what it should be and they are suffering. Van Gaal still doesn't think they are the finished article and we all know they need a decent centre-half, someone who can organise the play and do everything else too.

But it's the balance that is not quite right. He has brought in top-drawer players but has had to move other people out of their positions to accommodate them. It has made life very difficult and the cohesion and togetherness isn't quite there.

Break could do dropped Szczesny good
Sometimes managers drop players for their own good. Simon Mignolet was the one before Wojciech Szczesny who was dropped because of his form and since he has come back, Liverpool have had three victories and his confidence seems to be getting better all the time.

Szczesny will be back, but because of a lack of understanding between him and the defenders and occasional mistakes of his own, Arsene Wenger has decided to give him a break. It doesn't mean that he is not going to play again.

Quick thinking earns Chelsea win
Newcastle played very well on Saturday but you always expect Chelsea to score at Stamford Bridge; that's almost a given. The manner they scored from the quick corner when Newcastle were the better team was a killer blow for the visitors, because they had played and defended very well up until that point.

From John Carver's point of view in trying to get the manager's job, it was a good performance but they didn't get the result they wanted.

Palace players wanted to play for Pardew
The best thing as a new manager is to get off to a winning start. The reception Alan Pardew got from the crowd was amazing, particularly after the struggles he had at Newcastle, it must be an amazing feeling for him to be back with people who cheer him.

But football still always depends on results. You get that reception now but if you have five defeats on the bounce, you won't get that reception again. Having got that reception and got the result, Alan goes home happy and so do the supporters. The players played as if they wanted to play for him; they kept going until the end.

Palace are off and flying and the question now is, who's going to go down? Everyone says 'well, QPR can't win away', but they can still win at home and there are a lot of points available for them at home. All the others, like Burnley and Leicester, work their socks off, so it's really going to be a fight to the end now.

Pulis prepared to work with what he has
Alan Pardew knows he needs a striker and he would have known that before he went in at Palace – that will be his priority. From Tony Pulis' point of view, he is going in with a clean slate at West Brom, they have strikers, midfielders and defenders, and he has done it before at Palace.

He went in there and didn't bring too many of his own players in, so Tony is quite prepared and happy to work with the players he has got.

They got the clean sheet against Hull, which Tony would have loved. He is not interested in three or four nils, he will take them if they are there, but first and foremost it's about getting a clean sheet and then if they can score, then great. If you had to pick a result before kick-off, you would have said West Brom to win 1-0.

Swansea can build if they sell colossal Bony
He has been one of the top strikers in the Premier League this season. He is a colossus, he is strong, he can lead the line and run on the defenders' shoulders. He has got the lot.

It's obviously disappointing for Swansea to lose him but their recruitment has been very good. They have sold big players and replaced them with good players, so that must be quite pleasing for them.

Swansea are still building, slowly but surely. They are better this season than they were last season and they will be thinking we might be even better again next season but at the moment, we need to stabilise the club's funds and make sure it pays for itself.
