Defending champion, Dolphins of Port Harcourt, has full hands this weekend as it hosts in-form Gombe United in the star match of Week 7 fixtures of the current Nigeria Premier League (NPL) season.

The Savannah Scorpions, Gombe United, currently tops the league ladder with 13 points after five games and would storm the Liberation Stadium in the Garden City brimming with confidence after walloping Dolphins' sister club, Sharks, 5-0 in their mid-week encounter at the Patani Stadium in Gombe.

Technical Adviser and Head Coach of Gombe United, Bernard Ogbe, believes that his charges could come away with another stunning performance against the defending champion right in front of its home fans, with the duo of Mustapha Babadid and Sanusi Sani leading the assault against Dolphins. Both strikers currently top the scorers' chart with five goals apiece.

'We want to keep up the tempo and giving fair officiating, I'm sure we shall come away with a good result against Dolphins in Port Harcourt,' Ogbe told League Unlimited ahead of this weekend's clash.

His counterpart, Stanley Eguma, admitted that playing against Gombe United would not be a tea party considering the current form of the Savannah Scorpions. He, however, expressed confidence that his team would snatch the full points at stake at the end of the day.

'We expect a tough match against Gombe United considering their current form. But we are not under pressure to avenge the heavy defeat they handed our sister club, Sharks, in their mid-week encounter,' Eguma said.

'We shall approach the match like any other game. We're not going to have any special preparation for Gombe United. Our target is to ensure that we grab the full points because we cannot afford to drop any point at home at this stage of the league,' he emphasized.

Meanwhile, the Dream Team V's assistant coach banks on his new buy from Gombe United, Mohammed Adamu, to down his former team.

'We have no intention to put Adamu under pressure to deliver against his former team, but he's no doubt a good player and I believe that he can make the difference against his former team,' Eguma enthused.

Apart from Adamu, Eguma has two other players, who have played under Ogbe at Akwa United of Uyo and JUTH FC of Jos; they are Emem Eduok and Hassan Hussein respectively. Interestingly, Hussein has dismissed any threat from Gombe United in this weekend's clash, declaring; 'there's nothing special about them)'.

'How can we be afraid of Gombe United? It's not possible. We're a good team on our own, we have quality players and we are also ambitious to win trophies this season. It's three points or nothing for us,' he declared.
