ANAMBRA WEST NOT MARGINALIZED, TRANSITION COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN

The Transition Committee Chairman of Anambra West Local Government Area of Anambra State, Dr. Tony Obierika, has declared that his council area was not marginalized by the State Government.

Dr. Obierika who spoke to Daily Sun in his sub-office at Umueze Anam, said it was wrong for anybody to believe that the local government was being marginalized by the present administration in Anambra State.

The Transition Committee Chairman who was reacting to statements that the area was suffering marginalization, said that contrary, the area had benefited from the present administration in the state than from any other government that had ruled the state in the past.

He stated that the first tarred road in Anambra West was done by the present administration.

'This is the only state government that has so for remembered Anambra West Local Government Area in terms of development. It therefore desired commendation and not unnecessary criticism,' he declared.

Mr. Obierika said that most of the dilapidated schools in the area had been renovated by the Peter Obi-led government.

According to him, the schools built in the 70's were not renovated since then until the present administration gave them a face-lift.

Major development strides of the present administration in the area he said, include the tarring of Umueze Anam Mmiata road, the Otupa bridge which cost about N1 billion, the reconstruction of Mmiata Anam Primary School, Community Primary School Nzam and Ezi Anam Primary School Nzam and Ezi Anam Primary School, Umulora Anam.

The local government boss said that there was no community in Anambra West that had not benefited one thing or the other from the state government's development programme.

Ongoing projects in the area he said, include Owelle Health Centre, Odekpe Health Centre, Umuota Comprehensive Health Centre and the Iyiora Health Centre.

He also noted that the Local Government Secretariat at Nzam was undergoing massive reconstruction.

'Before the advent of the present administration in Anambra State, there was virtually no state government presence in this local government', he declared.

The local government boss enjoined all and sundry in the area to continue to support the Mr. Peter Obi-led administration in appreciation of the enormous work he was doing for the benefit of the citizenry.
