Ekiti PDP resists demolition of secretariat

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State has resisted the demolition of a part of the party secretariat building in Ado-Ekiti, the State capital by the Governor Kayode Fayemi-led Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) government in the State, describing the government action as wicked and devilish.

According to a statement issued by the State Chairman of the party, Chief Bola Olu-Ojo, "the attempted demolition of the party's secretariat was resisted because that of the ACN, which is closer to the road than our own, was not touched.”

Olu-Ojo, who said the ACN government was becoming more dictatorial than a military government; said; “The hurried way in which they brought their bulldozer to our office today was not unconnected with the youth rally that we held last Friday, in spite of the government's efforts to stop it.”

The statement read; “In spite of the fact that nothing has been done in all the areas where houses were demolished in Ado-Ekiti by the evil government of Fayemi, attempt was made at demolishing a part of our party secretariat located along Ajilosun Street, Ado-Ekiti today.

“This was however resisted by our party members who queried the demolition squad on the rationale behind bringing their evil bulldozer to the PDP secretariat while the ACN secretariat, which is located more than 10 buildings before the PDP secretariat was not touched.

“Our position is therefore that Fayemi should first go and demolish his own party secretariat, which is closer to the road than own before bringing his agents of destructions to ours.”

While describing the demolition of building in Ado-Ekiti by the ACN government as not only wicked but inhuman, the PDP said; “Before you can talk about beatifying a road, that road must be passable. In this case however, all the roads are bad. There are pot holes deep enough to swallow a car on Ado-Ikere road, yet Fayemi is destroying peoples'

sources of livelihood without providing any alternative.

“It is even more wicked that all the places where houses have been demolished, nothing has been done there.

“Rubbles of demolished houses are still at Atikankan, Stadium, Ado-Iyin road and Adebayo areas of Ado-Ekiti, with the rubbles that have blocked drainages already causing flood.”
