IBADAN, May 11, (THEWILL) - The defeated Governor of Oyo State, Chief Adebayo Christopher Alao-Akala (PDP) has said his administration would not leave behind any debt (foreign or local) for his successor, who is scheduled to be inaugurated on May 29, 2011 in Ibadan, the state capital.

The governor spoke on Tuesday at the inauguration of the N174m new office complex built for the state Head of Service.

Akala said his administration has completed every project that it started adding that only his proposed new Governor’s Office building is the only project outstanding.

He said his administration serviced all the foreign loans it inherited from the Ladoja administration in 2007 adding that his government is not indebted to any local bank and did not obtain foreign credit.

“I am bold to state that Oyo State is now much better than we met it and posterity will surely judge us right. There is no gainsaying the fact that this administration had touched virtually, if not all, the entire socio-economic landscape of the state with innovative, progressive and developmental programmes. This administration has performed creditably well in the area of construction of new projects, rehabilitation of existing ones and in some instances upgrading and providing existing structure with modern equipment. I feel completely satisfied that I am leaving behind a happy and motivated civil service in Oyo State,” Akala stated.
