2011: NO VACANCY IN ASO ROCK – ANENIH

Former Board of Trustees (BOT) chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Tony Anenih declared in Benin yesterday that there is no vacancy in Aso Rock. Anenih's declaration, apparently, was a warning to other presidential aspirants on the platform of the ruling party. Speaking during the official commissioning of the Goodluck Jonathan/Sambo Campaign office in Benin, Anenih said, 'Our presence here has sent a signal.

'We know that there is Adamu Ciroma consensus candidate. We also know that there is Nigeria consensus candidate. For Nigeria's consensus candidate, there is no vacancy in Aso Rock.'

He, therefore, urged Nigerians to be prepared to elect President Jonathan and his vice, Sambo in 2011, adding, ' by the grace of God, we will reach the promise land.'

Anenih, who was popularly called leader by his admirers said in Edo State, the PDP does not run campaign on the pages of newspaper, nor does it believe in thuggery and illegality.

Also speaking, the Director General of the Jonathan/Sambo Campaign Organisation, Dr. Dalhatu Tafida, described President Jonathan as a national product which everybody would like.

He said since he assumed the mantle of leadership as the President on May 6, there have been regular supply of fuel 'without any mago-mago, relative improvement in electricity supply, promising that power supply would be stable within one year of being voted as president to power industries and provide jobs.

In apparent reference to the age-long crisis in the Edo PDP, Dr. Tafida observed that Edo State has fallen into a position that is a lesson to the PDP and prayed that the state will never fall into that position again.

He pleaded with the people to cooperate with the State Executive of the party to enable the PDP take its rightful place and wins the state back.

The Director-General of the Jonathan/Sambo Organisation, who disclosed that Edo was the 27th state the campaign organization had visited, described Chief Anenih as PDP leader not only in Edo State but in Nigeria, and commended him for the quality of Jonathan/Sambo Organisation.

Earlier, Edo State Coordination of Jonathan/Sambo Campaign Organisation, Mr. Luck Imasuen, described President Jonathan's aspiration as the 'finest moment' for the South-South and urged the people not let it pass them by just as he listed the past offices occupied by the president to include Deputy Governor, Governor, Vice-President, Acting President and President.
