There is no doubt that Israel has set a precedent as a state that disregards all basic laws and norms. Israel places itself above international law, standards, and protocols. No one is safe from the Israeli killing machine. Palestinian journalists, healthcare workers, physicians, aid and rescue teams, schools, hospitals, and places of worship have all been targeted. Even food and medicine have been weaponized in this ongoing campaign. Of course, none of this would be possible without the unconditional support of the United States.

The latest Israeli crime is the targeted bombing of Al Jazeera Media Group, killing five Palestinian journalists. One of the murdered journalists is Anas Al Shareef, one of the most respected Palestinian journalists. So far, more than 200 Palestinian journalists have been killed by Israel.

Global media outlets reported the crime as if it were business as usual for Israel. This is no surprise. Palestinian lives don’t seem to matter.

Israel continues to block international media from reporting independently, restricting access and silencing facts. The goal is clear: to conceal the truth from the world. Only Israel can do that—and only because the U.S. enables it to defy the world.

At this point, words of sympathy and condemnation ring hollow. Backed by U.S. support, Israel shows no regard for laws and norms of decency. It is a positive and welcome development that France, the UK, Germany, Australia, Malta, and Canada plan to declare support for Palestinian statehood at the UN General Assembly in September. However, the reality remains unchanged. In November 2012, Palestine was granted non-member observer status at the UN. Today, 147 of 193 UN member states recognize Palestine. Recognition alone has not compelled Israeli compliance or delivered meaningful action to end the daily killings and starvation.

People are dying. Every second counts. Palestinians need justice—not just words of support. The world has failed to uphold its values of human rights and dignity, making Palestinians the exception.

The Netanyahu government is acting as a criminal enterprise, a mafia organization, committing all kinds of crimes and ordering hits on perceived enemies. These enemies include women, children, relief workers, and media personnel. The world has to stop Israel.
