The Ibadan Kingmakers have unanimously nominated the Balogun of Ibadanland, High Chief Owolabi Olakulehin as the next Olubadan of Ibadan.

The nomination followed the passing of Oba Dr. Mohood Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland.

However, the nomination will be subject to the approval of Governor Seyi Makinde of the State.

It was learnt that the kingmakers at a meeting held at Mapo Hall on Friday and chaired Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, High Chief Rasidi Ladoja, nominated Olakulehin as the 43rd Olubaban.

Ladoja is a former governor of Oyo State.
However, the Otun Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola was absent from the meeting.

Ajibola during the week stirred up controversy when he declared that Olakulehin was ill and not physically fit to rule.

The position was however faulted by Ladoja, who insisted that Ajibola only gave his personal opinion on the health status of Olakulehin.

Ladoja added that Ajibola was not a medical doctor and so could not determine Olakulehin’s health status.
