Abia State Polytechnic Students In Protest As Truck Kills Final Year Student

Some students of Abia State Polytechnic, on Tuesday, took to the streets and blocked the Aba-Owerri road after one of their school mate was crushed by a speeding truck near Eldorado Hotel.

The student, whose identity was given as Ogechi Maureen, reportedly was crossing the busy Aba-Owerri Road.

According to eye witnesses, a tricycle operator knocked down the victim and fled the scene before a speeding truck subsequently ran over her, leading to her untimely demise.

The accident happened shortly after her final year exam at the polytechnic in Aba.

It was learnt that the late student had rigorously participated in various activities organized by graduating students to mark the end of their academic journey at the institution.

Meanwhile, the angry students of the institution blocked the road and chanted slogans, calling on the relevant authorities to investigate the incident and bring the tricycle operator to justice.

The driver of the truck was apprehended, and the truck was seized by angry students.
