Nigerians have been urged to see the year 2024 in positive light, and not be discouraged by the experiences of the past years.

The Prelate and General Assembly Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, His Eminence, Ekpenyong Akpanika, gave the charge Sunday in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital.

He spoke as a guest preacher at the concluding service of a 21 day covenant renewal Programme of the Presbyterian Church, Saint Andrews Cathedral, Azuiyiokwu parish.

Akpanika who observed that Challenges and problems are a test of the country's ability to conquer, maintained that all that was required for a better 2024 lies within the thoughts and confessions of all Nigerians, especially christians.

The Ecclesiastical leader who spoke on the topic: "Set your mind to conquer" drew inference from the Bible book of Deuteronomy chapter 30, verse 11 through 20; Romans 8: 31 - 39.

He emphasized that God ever remains faithful to his covenant while his Love remains unfailing upon his people, even in the midst of the insecurity, economic and other challenges confronting the country.

While urging Nigerians never to allow themselves to be intimidated by their surrounding circumstances, he stressed that the ability of all christians to understand and follow the already ordained provisions of God is all that was required for a glorious year ahead

Akpanika admonished: "Stop looking at the past because God does not use the past to determine the future.

"Dont allow any form of intimidation to weigh you down.

"Stop negative confession; prosperity and poverty are in the power of your words."

The Cathedral Priest, Right Reverend Chidi Igwe, in an interaction, said the 21 days prayer programme provided the opportunity for members of the church to re-enact their faith in God and seek his guidance through the year.

He described the unscheduled visit of the prelate as a great honour to the Church, adding that his presence has added greater value to the covenant programme.

Members of the church who were full of excitement over the visit prayed God to guide the Prelate and grant him wisdom to continue to advance the impact of the church in Nigeria.

Covenant renewal programme is an annual event of the Presbyterian church of Nigeria, observed mostly in January in all parishes and congregations of the Church nationwide.

The event featured prayers for the country and her leaders; the Church and families as well as songs of praises to God.
