TK Delivers Masterclass At Crescent University

The Ace cinematographer and film-maker, Mr Tunde Kelani has delivered another masterclass on film, theatre and cinematography to diploma students of the Department of Mass Communication, Crescent University, Abeokuta.
The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC Yoruba) team was on ground to cover the lecture which spanned three hours.
Recall that the first masterclass was delivered by the vice chancellor of the institution, Professor Ibraheem Gbajabiamila a few weeks ago.
In his lecture, TK admonished the Theatre Arts and Motion Picture Producers Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) members that talent alone was not enough for modern actors and film producers, adding that film and theatre practitioners should add entrepreneurial skills to their talent to succeed.
He lauded theatre and film practitioners for their choice to go back to the university to upgrade their knowledge and skills, stressing that part of his success story was his relentless consultation with university scholars and academics.
He identified that "although there is a difference between films and theatre, there is a meeting point". This meeting point, he stressed, should unite practitioners rather than disunite them.
In a related development, Mr Kelani has declared himself a member of TAMPAN, Ogun State Chapter. He made this declaration during a brainstorming session of his masterclass where the President of the association, Mr Bolaji Amusan, popularly known as Mr Latin, Mr Ebun Olaiya, popularly known as Igwe and Mr Adebayo Olugbenga Oladunni popularly known as Imalian Boy made their contributions.
Appreciating the meeting point between films and theatre practitioners while stressing the need to work together, TK pointed out that "the guild of theatre has united the practitioners. I therefore declare myself as a member of TAMPAN".
Amid a standing ovation of TAMPAN members, , Mr Bolaji Amusan confirmed TK would not just be a member but a nominated executive member of the association.
In his reaction, Head of the Department of Mass Communication, Dr Kola Adesina, describing the Diploma programme as a win-win project, said it was the right step in the right direction.
"The programme was designed to test the waters of unbundling of communication courses into different specializations.
"The theatre and movie industry will be better it. The association will also benefit from TK's wealth of experience.
"The department of mass communication is happy with the collaboration. We Shall continue to cooperate and collaborate with stakeholders to make the programme a success", Dr Adesina explained.
