Ahmadu Bello Sardauna Platinum Leadership Award To Hon. John Tondu : Honour Well - Deserved
Recently, the leadership of Arewa Youths Assembly showered encomiums on Hon. John Tondu, former commissioner of land in Benue state. The prestigious body conferred one of the highest honours the Ahmadu Bello Sardauna Platinum Leadership/Excellence Award. Hon. Tondu was also inducted into the Arewa Youth Assembly Hall of Fame.
Speaker of the Arewa Youth Assembly, Hon. MD Salihu, said they were glad to have presented the award of excellence to the former commissioner as a result of his ground-breaking achievements as a political office holder.
Saying that Arewa youth assembly is focused on uniting all the northern youths regardless of their political affiliations, Hon. Salihu maintained that the award was as a result of Hon.Tondu’s track records while working as a civil servant as well as a political office holder. His words: “The testimonies of your humanitarian services are all over the North. Today we want to celebrate one of us (youth) who became a commissioner at the age of 35.
“We must also commend former Governor Gabriel Torwua suswam who found a youth worthy to be among his cabinet. This award Garkuwan matasan Arewa is the first of its kind in the Northern Nigeria”.
In his reactions, Hon. John Tondu said he was shocked when he received a letter from the Arewa Youth Assembly, seeking to honour me with an Award, having been out of public service for over a year.
His words: “I must commend you for choosing me over several other nominees. Just as you rightly pointed out, I relate with people not minding religion or geographical location. I am for all.
“I elect to stand by this association and will support any of your projects whenever I am called upon. We must preach peace amongst ourselves. I dedicate this award to God Almighty and it will spur me to do more. Thank you for coming”
Hon. John Tondu a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue state, and a former commissioner has contributed to the growth of Benue state in particular the North and Nigeria as a whole . Hon. Tondu is a great thinker, rare ingenuity of a broad mind, a fighter for what is just and right. He has a great heart of courage. He dare to go to where other men dread going.
