My Nigeria

By Solomon Okocha

She's like two worlds in one,
Two different sets of law and order,
One for the rich, the other for the poor.
Without legal consciousness, one is doomed.
She's like the ever changing weather,
Ever transforming into chaos and order,
One minute she's calm, next she's a demon.
Without safety consciousness, one is doomed.
She's like the wild wild west,
Wild like the feeling in a lion's den,
One thing is certain, fear is a constant.
Without faith consciousness, one is doomed.
She's like a pleasure seeking youth,
Pleasures that she cannot sustain awhile,
One way or the other, she must now let go.
Without fiscal consciousness, one is doomed.
She's like a hundred metres race,
Hundred years or more, yet no where,
One day like two, two like twenty or more.
Without health consciousness, one is doomed.
She's like a never ending tale,
Never lacking in inspiring adventures,
One so filled with the hope of a better end.
Without patience consciousness, one is doomed.
