The House of Representatives on Wednesday placed a 180 legislative days day suspension on the former chairman, House Committee on Appropriations, Abdulmumin Jibrin.

The lawmakers took the decision resolution  following the adoption of the recommendations of the House Committee on Ethics and Privileges, chaired by Nicholas Ossai.

The House seats three days in a week and this consequently means that Mr. Jibrin's suspension would last more than a year.

Jibrin’s travail began with a petition by Honourable Emmanuel Orker-Jev, chairman House Committee on Rules and Business in which he accused Jibrin of breaching Privileges of members by his outburst over the allegations of budget fraud and corruption leveled against Speaker Yakubu Dogara and three other principal officers.

Jibrin also accused Chairmen of some standing Committees of inserting projects worth N284 billion in the 2016 budget.

Jibrin had on July 21, a day after he was eased out as chairman of the powerful committee, made damning allegations of fraud against the House leadership, especially the Speaker Yakubu Dogara..

The Kano-born lawmaker continued in his quest to expose what he called  “massive corruption in the House.”

Dogara had announced the removal of  Jibrin in a speech he read in plenary on July 20, alleging budget fraud and serial betrayal of trust.
