Niger Now Has A Governor Who Is Prudent When It Comes To Finance—Marafa

The Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Marafa Guni has reaffirmed that, the administration of Governor Abubakar Sani Bello has brought back uprightness and value of Governance in Niger State since the return of democracy.

This position was made known on Monday 19th September, 2016 at his office in Minna. The Speaker noted that, the Niger State Legislators consider themselves “1 big family irrespective of political party, religion, tribal or ethnic differences”.

He disclosed that, as the Speaker “I make sure I don’t take any decision without consulting first with my colleagues’ because we have made it a point of duty that, henceforth, no matter what, Niger State comes First before any other thing, a condition that has greatly enhance a smooth relationship between the Law makers and the Executives in the State” he stated.

The Speaker further gave Kudos to Governor Abubakar Sani Bello “for coming up with a brand new style of leadership, that is, leadership with dignity and respect for the common person by being prudent with public resources”.

He added that, Governor Abubakar Sani Bello is always open whenever it comes to financial activities in the State. Marafa disclosed that, “for the very first time in the Niger State House of Assembly, Lawmakers didn’t have to be enticed with any form of gratification for the speedy passage of the State’s budget or any of their legislative duty”.

Speaker Marafa added that, for the very first time in Niger State, both the Executives and Legislators have a good knowledge and understanding of the needs of Nigerlites which is why we both consider ourselves as “good partners” working harmoniously in accordance of the rules and regulations binding the 2 sectors. The State’s political stability, Marafa expressed was part of those qualities that saw to the decision of electing him as the Chairman of the Northern Speakers Forum.

On probing the Administration of Governor Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, the Niger state’s Assembly Speaker was of the view that he was assuring Nigerlites that, we will bring to book anyone wanting in one way or the other in bringing the State into this financial mess”.

He added that, “some people have been returning money stolen from the state’s coffers silently, but at a point they stopped because they feel we are just making empty threats but very soon, we will make what they feel as an empty threat a reality by prosecuting those caught in the web”.

Finally, the Speaker enjoined those “who have their hands in what so ever that is illegal in the last administration to, for the fear of Almighty God, make amends now, that the doors for dialogue are still open” warning that “there would be no hiding place for anyone caught”.
