The Presidency  has denied reports in the media,  that the president had ordered the probe of the tenures of Emir Sanusi Mohammed and Prof. Charles Soludo.

According to the presidency, there is no truth that the President has ordered a probe of both men over their criticisms of his economic policies.

Both men were  Central Bank of Nigeria  governors.
The former apex bank chiefs had been critical of President Muhammadu Buhari's monetary and fiscal policies.

In strings of tweets, Spokesman,  Garba Shehu denied the reports.

He wrote ” Where did that report come from? .Under our Constitution which President @MBuhari swore to uphold, it is not a crime to offer suggestions.

According to him ” the checks I made today indicated that the Presidency is unaware if the reported probe of Sarkin Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi and Prof. Soludo”

Sanusi had compared the current foreign exchange policy to the subsidy policy under ex  President Goodluck Jonathan.

Sanusi said some very influential people now engage in round tripping, which has seen them making millions of dollars.

According to him, they buy at official rates and divert to the black market.

Soludo on his part had said Buhari is fighting the symptoms of corruption.

Few days after both scathing remarks by both men, news media was awash with reports of a probe of their tenure as CBN governors.

It was speculated that the alleged move was a vendetta by the President.

He made the denial in two different tweets today.
