Police Arrest 20-year-old Zamfara Indigene Over Attack On Enugu Community

SAN FRANCISCO, August 27, (THEWILL) – The Enugu State Police Command says a 20-year-old man has been arrested by its operatives over Thursday's herdsmen attack in Attakwu community, where a Catholic seminarian was killed, with other villagers injured. The identity of the suspect was given as Umaru Isah, from Gusau in Zamfara State.

The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, in Enugu State, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, disclosed this in a statement issued by him on Friday evening, adding that the Police Commissioner in the state, Emmanuel Ojukwu, is determined to uncover those behind the gruesome attack on the sleepy town.

The statement read, “Enugu State Command of the Nigeria Police Force, in its resolve towards unmasking those behind the dastardly act perpetrated at Ndiagu Attakwu community of Akegbeugwu in Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State, which left one person dead and four others critically injured, has nabbed a suspect identified as one Umaru Isah from Gusau, Zamfara State, over his alleged involvement in the incident.

“His arrest came through intelligence information gathered.

“The said suspect, who claimed that he is 20 years old, revealed that he came in from Gusau Zamfara State to Enugu recently for the purpose of rearing cattle but has none to rear till now.”

Amaraizu said the police was investigating the incident, adding that “investigations have commenced in full scale into his alleged nefarious activities and with a view to unmasking his gang members so that they can be brought to book.

“The State Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ojukwu, has vowed to unmask all those involved in the dastardly act and bring them to book.”
