By Maxwell Adeleye

A former Speaker of Ondo State House of Assembly and All Progressive Congress (APC) governorship Aspirant, Rt. Hon. Victor Adekanye Olabimtan has vowed to emulate the style of governance of his mentor and former governor of the state, late Olusegun Agagu if elected as governor.

The Supare-Akoko born trained teacher turned politician made this known on Tuesday when his campaign train stormed Okitipupa, the country home of Agagu and the administrative headquarters of Ikale land to solicit for support of his party delegates ahead of the primaries slated for Saturday August 27th.

In a statement signed by his campaign secretary, Mr. Gboyega Ajayi and made available to news men in Akure on Wednesday, the former commissioner representing Ondo, Ekiti and Edo States in the federal civil service commission said no governor either present or past can match the meritorious performance of late Olusegun Agagu since the state was created in 1976.

"The 182 delegates in the 13 wards from Okitipupa Local Government Area of our dear state hosted me this morning (Tuesday) in the city of Okitipupa, the headquarters of Ikale land. The reception was unusual.

"I was in the city to plead with them not to vote for money, backwardness and stagnation of Ondo State people. I told them that with Olabimtan at the helms of affairs, the abandoned road linking Okitipupa with other parts of Irele shall be given a sanctimonious attention. I would make the Ondo State University of Technology, Okitipupa (OSUTECH) a university of first choice if granted the insignia of power."~He vowed.

Speaking further, Olabimtan a former Chairman of the state Teaching Service Commission promised to empower the youth and women with enviable appointments if voted into office. He also promised to divide Okitipupa Local Government Area into two local council development areas if he wins.

"I will empower the youth by giving 50% of the appointments to them. It is time for youths to be deciding their future. More also, 40% of our appointments shall go to women mostly the well-travelled, rooted, grounded and exposed younger ones.

"I 'll divide Okitipupa local government into three local council development areas (LCDA). I will do stomach infrastructure for our party members. An hungry man as they say is an angry man. I will empower our party executive members from the ward to state levels intellectually, economically and materially.

The campaign train was also at the oil producing areas of Igbokoda and Igbekebo. At Igbokoda, Olabimtan emphasized on the needs to correct the injustice against the oil producing areas of the state.

He promised to relocate the headquarters of the Ondo State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (OSOPADEC) from Akure, the state capital to Igbokoda, the administrative headquarters of the oil producing areas (Ilaje) with an area office sited in Igbekebo, the headquarters of Ese Odo Local Government Area.

He admonished the party delegates not to sell their votes, warning that indulging in such act would spell doom for the future of the people of the state.

Responding on behalf of the delegates, the chairman of the APC in Okitipupa local Government, High Chief Wole Akeremale thanked Olabimtan for the visit. He assured him of the support of the people of the zone come Saturday. Also speaking, the Publicity Secretary of APC in Ese Odo LGA, Mr. Abiodun Omiyerun vowed to resist imposition of candidate.
