When Mischief Meets Misinformation....Mrs. Obiano Built CAFÉ Toilet at Afor Igwe Market and Installed Sumo Pump to Revamp Existing Borehole

Our attention has been drawn to a frivolous claim on a social media platform which alleged that the Wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Chief (Mrs.) Ebelechukwu Obiano, “claimed” a project when she recently commissioned one of her NGO’s CAFÉ Market Toilet at Afor Igwe market Umudioka, Dunukofia Local Government Area. This statement is meant to set the records straight:

CAFÉ Market Toilet projects is one of the many humanitarian programmes of the Caring Family Enhancement Initiative (CAFÉ), NGO of the wife of the governor of Anambra State which was borne out of genuine desire to

• Promote clean environment and hygiene amongst traders in rural markets thereby prevent the incidence of infections like typhoid, cholera etc.

• Protect the dignity of the average market woman who unwittingly takes to defecating in public due to lack of modern toilet facility.

Project Specification
A typical CAFÉ Market toilet is comprised of a building of two sections; male and female with a water system and wash basin and other accessories. The project normally include a borehole (where none exists) to supply water to the toilet.

The Afor Igwe Umudioka Toilet
The CAFÉ Market Toilet at Afor Igwe Umudioka is a project wholly built by CAFÉ as a stand-alone toilet building. It was discovered that there was no need for a new borehole since there was an existing borehole in the market which was broken and non-functional. After careful review, it was agreed that the existing one can be repaired and connected to serve the same market community.

Thus the borehole was duly repaired with new Sumo pump installed. The new installation was done without any attempt to repaint or touch-up any other thing concerning the borehole. In fact any keen observer at the market would notice that the borehole is still looking as old as it was even though it is now revamped and made useful for the benefit of the market women.

NB: Only the CAFÉ Market Toilet new building was painted and commissioned 18^th August 2016. It is on record that the Founder of CAFÉ and Wife of the Governor, Her Excellency Chief (Mrs.) Ebelechukwu Obiano stated this clearly when she commissioned the toilet.

Only merchants of mischief would insinuate that Mrs. Obiano “claimed” a project done by another person. This is far from the truth. Osodieme as she is fondly called is merely supporting the administration of her husband with such projects sponsored by philanthropists whose names are engraved on the walls for posterity. (Check and see Engr. Arthur Eze’s name on the toilet plaque as sponsor).

Already She has built 12 houses for widows whom she only meet at the time of handing over the keys. So instead of inputting malice and peddling falsehood, we invite those in doubt to join willing sponsors and assist CAFÉ in touching lives. Moreover government is a continuum and that is why the Governor of Anambra State, His Excellency, Chief Willie Obiano has kept faith with Continuity even in this time of recession.

The CAFÉ Market Toilet project at Afor-Igwe market is just one of many built across communities in Anambra State. Already completed and functional CAFÉ toilets can be found at Eke Igwe Nteje, Afor Mbaukwu, Afor Igwe Umudioka amongst others. It may interest you to know that one is proposed for Ekwulobia but it was discovered that there is an existing toilet without borehole so it has been decided that a new borehole will be built to serve the market.
