From one faux pas to another, from one bungling act to another hopeless remark it is obvious to most Nigerians with a passion for sports, that the erstwhile Minister of Sports, Solomon Dalung is a square peg in a round hole.

He has made a mockery of sports in Nigeria which is further compounded by his militant Marxist look, characterised by a red beret reminiscent of East German Red Faction or Baader-meinhoff gang. Indeed dressing like a militant does not translate into an exemplary performance as shown by his abysmal managerial skills.

From the initial faux pas of telling athletes to pay for their air fare to Rio, to the bungling of the flight plans of the under-23 football team, matters got to a head when the Nigerian Olympic team emerged last Night in their drab tracksuits when weeks ago the whole Nation and the President had their eyes tickled with a beautiful opening ceremony ornamental gown which was surreptitiously forgotten in Nigeria when the team left for Rio.

This is totally unacceptable. For a nation which has a reputation of adding colour to the Olympic parade, it was sickening and disgusting to see Nigerian athletes march out like orphans in loaned kits. Dalung should take the blame for this organisational failure after his crass statements and lack of regard for these Nigerian Ambassadors. Every Nigerian should be seething with anger at the temerity of Dalung to bring dishonour and shame upon the representatives of 160 Million Nigerians.

Let him fall on his sword lest he be removed by the President. He should be sent to the North to fight Boko Haram since he is more of brawn than brain as he wants to dress as a Militant and will better serve the Nation as a member of the Civilian JTF. He is not fit to be a Minister of Sports. He lacks the intellect and managerial skill to midwife this critical ministry. That is the bottom line.

Congratulations to Nigeria U23 Olympic Team for reaching Semi Final after defeating Denmark 2 goals to nil.
