Tiga Independent Power Project To Be Completed By October, 2016—Gov. Ganduje Assures

The multi billion Naira Tiga Independent Hydro Power Project, currently under construction by Kano government, would be completed in the next two months, the state governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has said.

"With what we are seeing in terms of supplied equipment and the assurances we have received from the contractor, the work would be completed in two months and then the construction will start at Challawa which is similar to this", the governor maintained.

Governor Ganduje, stated this when he visited the project site in the environs of Tiga Dam, Babeji local government area on Monday, noting that the major electrical components and turbines have already been delivered at the site.

The governor, who noted that the pace of work is very encouraging, said although the remaining civil works at the site are capital intensive, the government is willing to release money duly to ensure speedy completion.

Governor Ganduje said on installation, that the two turbines would generate the much required electricity that would keep the two major water works and industries in the state capital running.

He also assured the community living around the project site that the project would improve irrigation and appealing to them to cooperate with the contractor to ensure success.

Earlier, Chairman of Skipper Nigeria Limited, Mr. Jitendra Sakadim who conducted the governor around the site, promised to complete the work within the next two months, saying that 90 percent of the equipments are on the ground.

In related development, Governor Ganduje inspected the on-going Tiga-Rurum -Rano road project, which was awarded about two months ago by the state government.

He expressed satisfaction with the speed of the work covering 36 kilometers and reiterated that his administration would continue to execute projects that would stand the test of time across the state.
