Kano Gov't Pledges Continues Support For Programmes To Improves Agriculture

Kano state Government will continue to create and support any programme and project that will improve Agriculture in the state.

This assertion was made by the state governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje during the opening ceremony of the National Business Summit /Exhibition organized by Daily Trust in Partnership with Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission today in Kano state.

The governor who was represented at the summit by the commissioner of Information , Malam Muhammad Garba said that Kano has since taken a bold step towards revitalizing the state agricultural sector through embarking on various projects, programmes, supports and trainings to farmers and specialists that will assist the state in boosting the sector.

According to him, the government has succeeded in rehabilitating KASCO, the state fertilizer processing plant for optimum fertilizer production, rehabilitate the Kadawa and Dambatta insemination centres and training of 60 youth as inseminators in Turkey, employment of 700 Agric extension officers and providing them with motorcycles, provision of waterpump for fadama farmers as well as sinking of over 1000 boreholes for the " A Kori Rani" programme across the state among other things.

The commissioner said that agriculture is the only answer in rescuing the Nigerian economy especially at this critical period that, where oil reveune is no longer reliable.

He pointed out that Kano state government is ever ready to collaborate with stakeholders in the Agric and solid mineral sector so as to learn and adopt new ways that Will move the sector forward.

While describing the Theme of the summit "unlocking the Agric and Solid Mineral Sectors for Quick-win Development in the North West Zone "as timely because it will provide more needed information to the North West and Kano in particular on how to harness its multiple untapped solid mineral resources, Malam Garba commended the organizers for a job weldone , hoping that the tempo will be sustained.
