Police Arrests Suspected, Robbers, Cultists In Delta

Delta State Police Command has announced the arrest of crops of armed bandits and cultists who terrorises residents of the state.

The Command image maker, Superintendent of Police (SP) Celestina Kalu gave the hint in a press release made available to journalists in Asaba.

According to her, “on Monday 18th July 2016 at about 1130hrs, Quick Response (QRS) Patrol team on stop and search duty at Okere roundabout Warri, intercepted a tricycle with Reg. No. AKA231QV with two occupants, one Bore Agofore ‘m’ 25yrs of No. Morogun, by Odusaphien street Effurun, and Lucky Efe ‘m’, 30yrs of No. 5 Okunbo street Effurun. When the tricycle and the two occupants were searched, assorted handsets and sum of eleven thousand, three hundred and forty naira (N11, 340.00) suspected to have been stolen were recovered. Consequently, the said Bore Agofore and Lucky Ese were arrested”.

She noted that preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects had earlier robbed one Aghoghoubia Rukevwe of No. 4 Aghoghohoubia Street Warri and Ifeanyi Agim of No. 26 London Opi Street, Warri of their valuables, adding that the victims were contacted and have identified the suspects and the exhibits as properties robbed from them, “the suspects have also confessed to the crime”, the PPRO said.

In another development, the police spokeswoman said, on same day at about 1900hrs, following a distress call through the Command’s control room Asaba, about a clash between cultists at Ugbolu town, Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) quickly mobilized operatives to the scene and arrested one Paul Ogbeme, Chukwuma Udeze, Unata Tochukwu, Monday John, Aduba Solomon, Nwoku Emmanuel, Alex Ekemeso, Onyeka Samuel and Okechukwu Alaka, stressing that the suspects are undergoing interrogation.
