The Enugu State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has inaugurated the Igbo Etiti Local Government Area executives elected during the recently-concluded congresses of the party in the state.

During the ceremony at the council headquarters Ogbede that marked the commencement of the tenure of the exco led by Hon. Barr. Nkechi Ugwuoju, the Chairman of the local government, Hon Malachy Agbo while welcoming the party members and guests that thronged the venue paid tributes to the Governor of the State, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for his people-oriented administration that was determined to make a lot of difference in the lives of the people of the State.

Agbo said 'I stand here today to thank our Governor for all his good works in the state. Apart from the development in infrastructure that is massively going on despite the downturn in the economy, His Excellency has been consistently paying the workers at the end of every month when this has become serious issues in other states. In addition, he has made his administration to be one of the most gender-friendly in the whole country where he has tapped into the bountiful human resources of Igbo Etiti. Our dear Chairman we are inaugurating today is a woman and we have no doubt she will lead the party to greater heights. These are some of the many reasons PDP will remain in power in Enugu State'

The State Chairman of the party, Hon. Augustine Nnamani in his speech thanked the Transition Committee Chairman for his efforts in fully mobilizing Igbo Etiti people for the occasion that was well attended. He reiterated the commitment of the party to the welfare of the people at all levels.

He stated the party would continue to work hard not to yield any of its grounds as the most popular party in the state while pledging the full support of the members towards recapturing power at the center as the party was prepared to 'change the change', in line with its new slogan.

Other speakers took their turns to extol the virtues of the leadership of the council, state and the party while urging members never to relent as it took hard work, dedication and the kind of commitment that saw them turning out in their numbers, to remain the party to beat in the state.

The event was graced by many dignitaries like Commissioners, Chairmen of other local governments, members of the State House of Assembly, traditional rulers, Party stalwarts, all the twenty wards in the council and their excos, women and youth organizations, and party members from the communities.

The colourful event was not only speeches as there were performances by many dance troupes including Ikorodo cultural dances from Ikolo and Aku, with the Agalaba (Ijele) masquerade of Ohodo.
