Niger Delta militants storm Lagos, abduct Oba Oseni from his palace

There is tension in the Iba area of Lagos following the abduction of Oba Yushau Goriola Oseni by suspected militants from the Niger Delta region. According to PM News, the militants carried out the deadly operation on Saturday, July 16 around 11:30pm.

The militants reportedly gained access to the Oniba of Ibaland palace through the waterways shot his security guard to death. Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Palace sources reported that a neighborhood watch officer was also shot alongside the wife of the monarch. The militants then abducted Oba Oseni and also escaped through the waterways.

It is not known whether the monarch was abducted for ransom or a furtherance of continued attack in Lagos. The activities of militants has expanded from the Niger Delta region to some parts of Lagos especially the ares close to the waterways. The attack by militants in Lagos resulted in the death of four persons. Dolapo Opeyemi Badmus who is the spokesperson of the Lagos state police command in an exclusive interview with Naij.com confirmed the activities of militants in Lagos but said the force was working to curtail it. She said: ”

Men of the underworld who tagged themselves as militants came out of the creek and took advantage of the nearness of the area to the creek to unleash unnecessary terror on members of the public. The hoodlums came out to a part of Lagos we call igbolomu at midnight.

“The command is now fortifying the area since we noticed the trend. Four people died on Lagos side while 2 on Ogun state side making 6 deaths recorded from the incident. The command is not happy about that, therefore we implore the members of the public that if you notice anything suspicious please report it to the police.
