An Open Reply To A Demagogue Comr. Adamu Abdullahi Alhassan Letters

By Usman Mohammed

Dear Comr Adamu Abdullahi Alhassan,
This may not be the time for me to write on this because of misinterpretations pasted on our rules of bounding down campaign related activities on our WhatsApp platform but I cannot longer resist the push because you intended only to dementia the mind of right thinking members of the LAESA.

Initially I don't want to reply the letter because the writer who claims to know the power of pen and a problem solver does not know the differences between paragraphing and spacing in writing but I was intellectually stimulating and dismay that a university student failed to understand the need for paragraphing or spacing at 21st Century.

I, therefore suggest that you should take cab into the faculty of reading more books and literary works such as poems, novels, scriptures and not forgotten newspapers and magazines to learn usage of paragraph and space as well as coordination of sentences.

While that is not the essential prowess of writing this letter despite the fact that I know my write up will hurt, provoke and pains many people especially the right thinking members of LAESA, its relatives, friends and well wishers but remember that the truth must be said or spoken even at the gun point. Truth will always set you free and it will always maintain your integrity.

Truth has only one name and one formula while lies has one name but has many different formula. "Family segregation" has become one of the challenges faced by many couples today. If you go to prayer houses today, the majority of intensions are prayer for peace and unity among the families not for political avenues and this call for concern.

I must not failed to clear the air that I don't hold any malice or any personal grudges or animosity against any members of this great Association, and every Association that has no law and sanction will never progress or develop. Therefore, the law and sanction must be placed even if it will cost a life.

Some unscrupulous elements of progress and misinterpretations such as Comr Adamu Abdullahi, claims that I am too autocratic and some said that I have placed the band on wrong time and some said in disdain manner. While others says that I don't have to said it on this platform (Association). The perambulating questions that are demanding an answers are; What is the essence of establishing LAESA, is it for unity or for campus politics?

Before LAESA come to existence, in what way or platform are using to campaign for your desire candidate? Is it only LAESA that you can use to campaign and reach out to the electorate's? If LAESA does not come to force and reckon, what means would you use to sell out your desire candidate? Can we achieve unity through campaigning in LAESA?

I strongly believe that answers to these unavoidable questions will be capital NO. In our first general meeting held last month in Kobo Hall, has these question on everybody lips particularly, Attahiru Gulu, who asked, "why is it that we always try to bring up LAESA when it is time for campus politics"? Please let's be honest with ourselves, if you are the President of this great Association what will do considering the fact that you did not establish LAESA for such reason and you started the struggle to revived the Association a long time before the second semester (campus politics)?

So the need to evoke such law arose and I advice that we should be a law abiding members and we shall see light at the end of the tunnel. There is a section of constitutions of the Federal Republic of Nigeria that guided us to hold on to our observations or opinions, then, I must not be compunction or shows a pricking of conscience or a feeling of regret, especially one which is slight or fleeting. And I quote "Section 39 subsection (

1): Every person shall be entitled to freedom of expression, including freedom to hold opinions and to receive and impart ideas and information without interference". "

(2) Without prejudice to the generality of subsection (1) of this section, every person shall be entitled to own, establish and operate any medium for dissemination of information, ideas and opinions: Provided that no person other than the Government of the Federation or of a State or any other person or body authorised by the President on the fulfilment of conditions laid down by an Act of the National Assembly shall own, establish or operate a television or wireless broadcasting stations for, any purpose whatsoever ".

So with this I strongly believe that you hold the right to express feelings, believes, ideas, observations and opinions. I strongly believe that every observations would be aimed either directly or indirectly at you, likely or not. So I take your criticism as a substantial and sophisticated weapons to harden my semi dictator as you called me. The great scholars and father's of political philosopher's believed that "If you can't rule your family then you can't rule the world".

Please follow me, President Muhammadu Buhari closed borders without consulting you and I within 24 hours without exploring the reason why the decision was taken and many were throwing in their complaint against the decision but it help greatly in curbing and curtailing the rise of deadly Boko Haram.

Is Buhari a semis dictator? In another development again, President Buhari, removed fuel subsidy within 24 hours without considering the timing despite the economy downturn in the country but today fuel is available everywhere despite the sudden vandalization of our oil facilities by Niger Delta Avengers. Can we call Buhari an authoritarian leader?

Coming back to our immediate environment, when the Chairman, Lapai Local Government Council, imposed curfew in Lapai within 24 hours in order to address critical security challenges in Lapai, is also a semi or demo dictator? What I am trying to put into your thinking faculty is that, every crucial decisions is been taken within shortest possible time, so 24 hours is enough for them to reach mutual consensus. Let's delve into school of thoughts and uncover what is hidden.

What is law? According to BBC dictionary; "law is also a rule or set of rules for good behaviour which seems right and important for moral, religious, or emotional reasons". Now tell me where political reasons has to emball itself? What is unity? According to the Prof. Frank C. Caraw, of Counseling and Psychology, IBB University, defines unity as " when people are in agreement and act together for a particular purpose ".

This concise definition pave way for me to ask again; what is the purpose of establishing LAESA? furthermore, we have to briefly and carefully consider the meaning of campaign, therefore, what is campaign? According to Oxford university in department of political science, has this to said: "A campaign is a set of activities planned to achieve something such as social and political change".

Carefully consider the fact emphasize on social and political change, does that address the unity Temple we want to achieve? LAESA is bigger than everyone here including you and I. So your letter is still consider and remain canard as far as LAESA is concern. I strongly believe that "change is the most constant things that happen in person's life and always remember that right attitude always produce right action.

Therefore, I advice that you learn how to become an objective but not subjective criticizer because you are a calumnies. Casting your mind back to the subconscious level of development and corruption we witness by Goodluck Jonathan led administration has shown clearly that he is not a dictator or authoritarian.

On several occasions, all our prayers for the people of this incomparable Association, Lapai Local Community, Niger state and country at large is to live in peace, unity and harmony while the most proximity institution closet to you is living in segregation, discrimination, agony and paroxysm? How can you preach peace, unity and harmony in using a political atmospheric mechanism?

How did you think your words of peace, unity and harmony will sounds or echoes in the ears of the right thinking members of the society? There will not be a development if there is no long and lasting peace and unity among your bloodstream people. Take Borno, Adamawa and Yobe for examples.

And I ask again; can political campaign guarantee you peace? I have to remain cagey and save my writing prowess and strength for something better While I await your criticism because we all have right to hold onto our opinions and observations. Observations makes you strong and hard working. I am very sorry if my words hurt you, please forgive my pen and thinking ability. Thank you.
