Against the recent denials by the Akwa Ibom APC, we wish to restate here that Obong Umana Umana, through his campaign manager Chief Sunny Udom did actually expressed anguish over the 2019 elections and failure of President Buhari to appoint APC members in the state to manage NDDC and other juicy boards.

It is rather shameful that a party would come out so openly to attack the actions of its national leader and President of the country.

Here are excerpts from the interview conducted on a private radio station, and the voice heard is that of CHIEF SUNNY UDOM:

"The first issue that Akwa Ibom people will present to the federal government during the town hall meeting will be giving to Caesar what belongs to Caesar. I’m talking about NDDC board.

In NDDC Board, Akwa Ibom is supposed to have finished its four years tenure as the managing director. But that was truncated last December, and since then, people have been asking when, when when? At first they said they will give the lady (Mrs Seminitari -Acting MD) three months, three months passed. Then they said six months, which had elapsed by about three weeks. So, Akwa Ibom people will say please federal government form the NDDC board. This board will not only favour Akwa Ibom.

The only thing is that Akwa Ibom will have two people incorporated into that board. All other Niger Delta states will have one person each in the board, and that will benefit the APC as a party a lot. You know we have to prepare for 2019. That is one of the things that Akwa Ibom people will ask for.

Akwa Ibom people may also thank the Federal Government for the clean-up of Ogoni land, and then plead with the FG to also turn its eyes to the oil spills in Akwa Ibom.

Akwa Ibom people will also thank the FG for doing what Napoleon could not do. We will also demand from the FG that as the hen that lays the golden egg, Akwa Ibom should be considered for what they call juicy boards. We don’t want a situation where we wait for board appointments, and at the end of the day, we are given copyright commission, we are given lottery commission. What are we copyrighting? Akwa Ibom should be considered for good boards we have helped this country. This is where the money comes from. We are contributing about 50% to 55% of the oil income of the Federal Government."

Excerpts from the interview by Chief Udom on 'Team Nigeria', an independent radio programme aired on Planet Radio on Friday June 10, 2016
