NANS National President visits Akwa Ibom State...... Commends Governor Emmanuel For Creating Student Friendly Environment

.....Pronounces Comrade Mike Ibanga As Authentic NANS JCC Chairman

The National President of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Tijani Shehu Usman and some members of his EXCO on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 round off a 2 day working visit to Akwa Ibom State.

The reception saw the board room of Ibom E- Library quickly become a behive of activities, as students and jornalists thronged the venue to welcome Nigeria's number one student, who presides over the affairs of 41 Million Nigerian students at home and abroad, as he was received by the Special Assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel on Student Affairs Comrade Otobong Aquila Akpan.

The leader of Nigerian students said the visit to Akwa Ibom was neccesary, particularly to see for himself the many trumpeted news of Nigeria's highest oil producing state. According to him, this is as part of his tour of South Southern States of the country, to see to the welfare of Nigerian students.

While on the trip, Mr Usman met with Student Leaders and stakeholders in Akwa Ibom state, enlightening them on his achievements in office so far. He commended Governor Udom Emmanuel for sustaining the Free & Compulsory Education, and for the appointment of a female student as his aide, to over see the affairs of students in the state.

On the lingering students leadership crisis, the NANS President wades in, as he pronounced Comrade Mike Ibanga as the authentic NANS Joint Campus Committee Chairman in Akwa Ibom state, having listened to reports from various quarters.

In response, the Governor's Aide charged Comrade Tijani to use his amiable office in appealing to President Buhari to enact student friendly policies, which will create an enabling environment for education. Taking a cue from Governor Emmanuel's Student Welfare Intervention Scheme, Free & Compulsory Education and subventions for WAEC fees.

After taking him on a run down of her principal's feat in the educational sector, she thanked Comrade Tijani for the timely visit, when students in the state seem to be having leadership crisis.

Also present at the meeting was the Coordinator of Akwa Ibom Enterprise & Empowerment Scheme (AKEES) Mr Nduesa Ebong, who enumerated the benefits of AKEES, one of Governor Udom Emmanuel's flagship project, it's achievements so far, and how over 1, 000 youths have been employed.

Following the briefing, Comrade Usman was guided on a tour of key projects commissioned by Governor Udom Emmanuel. Some of the project sites visited were the Ultramodern Sport Complex at West Itam School, The Akwa Prime Hatchery at Mbiaya Uruan, and the new State Sceretariat Complex.
