Save The Date (DNC Convention Week)

By Sylvester Okere

Dear Distinguished Friend,
United People for African Congress (UPAC) is a Political Organization committed to build bridges and lives, and make tomorrow a viable future for US Africans Diaspora and Africans in the mother land.

UPAC is also created to mark the emergence of concerned Africans in the United States that want to be part of the democratic process in the United States. In 2015, UPAC received favorable attention from the Democratic National Committee (DNC) / Democratic National Convention Committee (DNCC) as its Allied Partner.

UPAC is holding its first ever historic fundraising side event "Democratic Power Nite" on Wednesday, July 27, 2016, the eve of DNC’s nomination in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

UPAC cordially invites you for this historic event and wants you to save July 27, 2016. You will be informed of the venue as soon as location is confirmed.

Meanwhile, UPAC is at a crossroads of translating realistic ideas into positive outcomes. We believe that this is the right time to attend to the needs of millions of Africans that have been discriminated, marginalized, and oppressed in their foreign countries of residence and within their own native countries in Africa.

We are all aware of the effects of centuries of colonialism and neo-colonialism in Africa, which have left lifetime deep and wounded scars of discrimination, marginalization, and oppression. George Mwai, one of the writers of the Pambazuka News, puts it this way, "There is a lack of acknowledgement of the interlocking nature of the factors and systems of oppression and how they continuously work together to produce domination, discrimination and marginalization in this continent (Africa)."

UPAC may not be able to undo colonialism, neo-colonialism, and racism and all its forms, but can emulate the leadership of President Barack Obama. He has breathed substance into our existences, issues, concerns, frustrations, and indignations in every continent. He also said that, "Africa’s future is up to Africans."

This time of translation signifies our time of recovery in every continent, starting in the United States of America. UPAC believes that, "If the Diaspora can get better…Africa will be great."

UPAC asks you to join us on Wednesday, July 27, 2016, to forge positive relationships, and help us attend to the needs of Africans Diaspora in the United States and Africans in Africa.

Together we can build bridges and lives, and make tomorrow a viable future for US Africans Diaspora and Africans in the mother land.

Respectfully yours,
Sylvester Okere, DNC 's - African Diaspora Liaison
