You Are Africa’s Young Ambassador And The Future Is In Your Hands, Comr. Omaga Charges Bblli Scholarship Beneficiaries

Arusu village came alive on May 27, 2016 as members of Beyond Boundaries Legacy Leadership Initiative (BBLLI) celebrated the children’s day with students of Trinity College Arusu in grand sytle. Arusu is a very remote village, in the Kokona Area Council of Nasarawa State.

The community is home to about three ethnic groups, among which are the Eggon, Mada and Gwandara people. Trinity College is the only functioning secondary school in the community as there seems to be little or no presence of state government.

Arusu lacks portable water and electricity and inhabitants are predominantly excommunicated from the rest of the word as there is no means of telecommunication.

Most mobile phone users have to walk round the surrounding bushes and farmlands in search of network before they can communicate.

The village is about an hour drive from the main Garaku town of the state. The only Nigerian Police Post that was sighted in the village is only a relic of its own image as the place could be easily mistaken as a breeding place for goats.

Addressing students and community members during the scholarship/educational empowerment programme organized by the non-governmental organization, Comrade Omaga Elachi Daniel, Executive Director of the NGO charged the beneficiaries to be good ambassadors of Africa and that the future is their hands.

In line with the organization’s objectives to provide scholarships and grants to brilliant children, women, youths and persons with peculiar challenges who are unable to go to school due to financial constraint, five students were presented with ten thousand Naira each, to cater for their tuition fees for a session.

Omaga stressed that to grow Africa, every child must have access to quality education and as such, the organization’s scholarship/educational support programme is their kind way of giving back to the society even as youths so as further vent the belief that the government alone cannot effectively take care of the needs of our people.

He called on individuals who are endowed to support government efforts as this is one of the symbolisms the occasion represents.

He noted that the program will be significantly expanded in the near future to include many more of Nigeria and Africa's disadvantaged young children, youths.

“We need to eliminate the situation where lack of financial capability kills the dreams of many brilliant, creative and well-focused children,” he said.

Speaking also at the event, Okpe Joseph Okpe, a lecturer with the state university charged the students to remain focused and to take their academics more serious as there is always a reward for excellence.

The event was colorful as cultural dances were presented by the students and a Children’s day cake presented by BBLLI was cut and shared among the students.

Writing materials were also presented to the principal of the school to assist them in their administrative duties.
