Our Ex-President Has Gone Exiled

When the news broke that an Ex-President had gone on self imposed exile few were surprised. Indeed we all predicted his fate as keen watchers of the way he ran the nation. Even his rantings denying the obvious has not changed the fact that he is the first former President to retire to another African country. One wonders why? Didn't he electrify his community? Or is he afraid of the in motorable roads he failed to tender to thus making the drive to his village a seasonal journey of horror?

Or maybe he is shamed that after so many years in power he left his people in such abject poverty that the smell of paupers surrounding his country home was too offensive to his threatened sanity? Or maybe he doesn't want to bare the blame for the criminality of his stooge Seriake Dickson who has refused to pay workers despite the state's huge allocation compared to others?

Indeed the man he installed and deceived people to entrust their souls to in Bayelsa against the APC who they labelled the evil Northern party, has become a wolf in sheep clothing and alas instead of pleading with his man to do the needful the exiled one proceeds on exile. I wonder is the exiled one still collecting his pension as a former Governor or has the No-salary Dickson added him to the mix of the unworthy to be paid. I Seriously doubt it. But alas the exiled one has taught many leaders to come, a vital lesson.

There will always be a tomorrow. Power lasts only for a lifetime at most. But what legacy does one leave behind? Phoney awards granted by canned organizations. Hero worship from a gang of journeymen who fail to realised that he had no option but to leave the scene or face a fate far worse than Laurent Gbagbo. Indeed I weep not for the exiled one.

One year ago marked the end of the most corrupt regime ever in the history of Nigeria. Yes one year later things may not be rosy but we are happy to see a leader that is honest and genuinely trying to steady the ship left in distress by the exiled one. I see hope for Nigeria. The future is no more bleak and hopeless. Nigeria has changed forever. Never again will a corrupt clueless leader lead this nation again for exile and shame shall be his portion. Even his own people will disown him.

Yes Niger Delta Avengers want to extract their own pound of flesh in revenge for Nigerians chasing out the exiled one. Or is it a coincidence that since the exiled one left his kin have started a campaign to cripple the Nigerian state? But they will not succeed. Already the Revenging Avengers are facing the might of the revamped Nigerian Military as superior firepower has been deployed to the creeks to smoke out these criminals.

Already a number of avengers have been killed and arrested in the last 24 hours. Let the exiled one continue to enjoy his sojourn near his alleged oil refinery despite not even building one in his home country in years of misrule. The exiled one is an enigma.

Never again will we be deceived by a sleepy smile and drooling voice. A Track record built on service and honesty is the new Nigeria we all hope to build.

Goodbye the exiled one. History and Nigerians will never forgive you.
