FG to establish additional passport office in Kano– Dambazau

The Federal Government is set to establish an additional passport office in Kano, to complement the existing one. The Minister of Interior, retired Gen. Abdulrahaman Dambazau made the disclosure at the Special Town Hall meeting organised by the Federal Government, in Kano on Friday.

The town hall meeting is part of activities to mark the one year anniversary of the government. He said the decision to establish the additional passport office was due the strategic position of Kano. “Kano is a strategic place for commerce and business activities hence the decision of the government to establish the office”, he said. He said the Kano State Government had already allocated a house to be rehabilitated for the immediate take off of the new passport office.

The minister commended the state government for the gesture adding that the rehabilitation would soon commence. Dambazau also said the federal government planned to establish a new prison in Kano in addition to rehabilitating the Kurmawa central prison in the city. He said that the government had employed a number of staff in agencies under the ministry, pointing out that the state was well considered during the exercise.

The minister urged Nigerians to exercise more patience, assuring that federal government under President Muhammadu Buhari was committed to the socio-economic development of the country.
