We Need Peaceful Co-existence in Isoko Says Ambassador Usikpedo

The President-General of Women Wing of Isoko Development Union (IDU), Ambassador Caroline Usikpedo, recently called on Isoko people to have a united front.

Speaking with Ambassador Usikpedo at the IDU women wing mid-year conference in Lagos, said there is need for every Isoko woman to see beyond community leadership system in the region. When I took over this IDU women wing leadership, it was highly competitive but God saw me through and with my creative vision, I knew that I would make a good leadership innovation among Isoko women through this IDU platform. It is no longer business as usual where women merely gather together to answer roll calls but for participation and inclusive women for a peaceful and better society.

It is quiet challenging in leading women of different professions but with my international exposure, God has helped me in piloting the affairs of the IDU women wing over one year and 6 months now. God has given me good working executives of integrity.

She added that Isoko women are being recognized from the state level to the federal level and one major achievement was the donation of the 15 seater Hiace bus by the Governor of Delta State, His Excellency Senator. Dr Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa through the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Commission(DESOPADEC).The Lagos IDU women wing must be commended for putting this event together in this present economic hardship in Nigeria. I can tell you specifically that Isoko nation is moving forward.

This mid-year IDU women wing conference is to address salient issues militating against our community development (Promoting Peaceful Co-existence through Culture and civic Engagement) and to ensure that Isoko women are in the mainstream of the new sustainable development goals of the United Nations and to allow us showcase the Isoko culture both within and outside Nigeria. “She stated.
