Edo 2016: Obaseki Mock PDP, Says I Have Not Step Down!

The All Progressive Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in the fourth coming election in Edo State Mr. Godwin Obaseki has describe the ongoing wide spread rumor that he has step down from the governorship race as laughable. He appeal to members of the public to ignore such rumor which is been spread by the opposition as a result of their failed courage to confront him in an election. According to him he has rather step up his political activities and heighten his chances of winning stressing that the fear of his political influence and massive support by the people of Edo state has made the PDP to lose sleep in the past weeks.

Obaseki who reacted in a press statement by his Media aide Benjamin Atu said, Mr. Godwin Obaseki is much more in the race now than ever before. He has not step down and not planning to do so. He has earlier fixed today 29th of April for his official declaration for the governorship race but has to reschedule it due to the high profile cultural activity schedule to hold today at the palace of the Oba of Benin in which palace chiefs, Enigies, Odionweres, ward leaders and market women and cross section of Edo citizens will be in attendance.

According to the statement, Mr. Godwin Obaseki is a man who has great respect for tradition and culture and cannot go ahead to disrespect the Benin people and the culture of the land. If the PDP can do such, he cannot. The postponement should therefore not be misinterpreted by the PDP to mean a stepping down but to give honor to whom honor is due.

The governorship hopeful be Moure the opposition party and urge them to lick their wound rather than spreading unfounded rumor thereby overheating the polite. Benjamin Atu said ‘ PDP is intimidated by the profile and the strategic experience of Godwin Obaseki in politics, policy, diplomacy, practical governance, and skills in raising Internally Generated Revenue [IGR] especially in times such as this, saying that Edo State would be fortunate to have Godwin Obaseki as the next governor of the state. On a daily basis the path to his governorship bid keeps getting illuminated on account of the various endorsement and support anchored on the believe and confidence that Obaseki knows every policy of government in and out.

He told the PDP to learn from their mistake of making president Buhari more Popular than their own candidate by their hate campaigned and hath messages. Obaseki said, the current tension and apprehension by the PDP chairman and his supporters in the state, due to his entrance in the governorship race is needless because the Edo State government house cannot face affliction a second time the statement added.
