Governor Bello’s Administration To Unveil First Ever Health Reform Agenda—Health Commissioner

The Niger State Honourable Commissioner for Health and Health Services, Dr.Mustapha Jibril has on Monday announced plans of the Governor Abubakar Sani Bello’s led administration to unveil the first ever Health Reform Agenda in Niger State. He made the announcement during his address to mark the 2016 World Malaria Day at the Palace of the District Head of Gusoro Community in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.

The Commissioner reiterated their resolved not to toe the path of previous administrations in discharging their duties and responsibilities to Nigerlites. He stated that, Mr. Governor's directives that, his administration’s activities are community-based and oriented are undisputed while noting that, the decision to mark the 2016 World Malaria Day in Gussoro Community was deliberate as it has always been celebrated in Minna, the state capital by the previous administrations. He then urged Nigerlites to render their maximum cooperation to Government’s efforts to eradicate Malaria in Niger State.

The Commissioner was quoted saying “As a representative of Mr. Governor in the Niger State Ministry of Health, very soon, we will unveil the first ever state health reform agenda titled NIGER HEALTH 1.0 which clearly outlines our holistic approach to improving the performance of the health system through structured investments in an integrated network of care anchored on the renewal of the primary health care system”.

He added that, gradually, in the next 3years, our service-driven and compassionate Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello will ensure that, every political ward in Niger State is provided with a functional primary health care centre that will be providing 24/7 services to Nigerlites, with a good complement of infrastructure, equipment and health commodities as well as adequate and competent health workers, the Commissioner noted.

The Commissioner while commending, especially the Youth for their unshakeable support and maximum cooperation to Mr. Governor’s policies and Change Mantra initiatives enjoined Nigerlites not to relent while re-assuring them of Mr. Governor’s commitment towards having a working Niger State for all. He further stated that, the ONE PHC PER WARD facilities will be linked to equally revitalized, strengthened and optimally functioning secondary health-care facilities.
