Goc 7 Division Of Nigerian Army, Convoy Escape Boko Haram Ambush

SAN FRANCISCO, April 19 (THEWILL) – The leading convoy of the Acting General Officer Commanding, GOC, 7 Division of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Victor Ezugwu en route Bama to visit troops was about 8.30am on Tuesday ambushed by suspected Boko Haram terrorists.

Although one soldier lost his live and 2 others were injured, the convoy was able to clear the ambush, killing some of the terrorists recovering vehicle and weapons from them. The recovered items include a Toyota Hilux vehicle, 2 AK-47 rifles and several ammunition.

A statement issued by the acting Director of Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman disclosed that”the Acting GOC has continued his operational visit to Bama, while the body of the late soldier and the wounded has been evacuated to Maiduguri. The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai has also spoken with the GOC.

“The Nigerian Army wishes to reiterate its unalloyed commitment and determination to continue to clear the remnants of the Boko Haram terrorists wherever they might be hiding,” the statement noted.
