NIGERIA WHEAT FARMERS SUFFER FROM IMPORTATION

Nigeria loses over four billion dollars yearly to wheat importation.

This was disclosed by the Maiduguri agricultural research institute in collaboration with the international centre for agricultural research in the dry areas under the ministry of agriculture and rural development in an occasion to mark international wheat farming day held at Alkamawa village at Bunkure local government today.

It added that this prompted the president Muhammad Buhari led administration to revive the agricultural sector which has already started in Kano and Kebbi states.

The institute also disclosed that African countries also lose almost 15 billion dollars yearly on wheat farming.
