Kano Spends N10m On Feeding Of Cattle Recovered From Rustlers. By

The Kano State government said it has, so far, spent over N10 million on the feeding of cows that were recovered from rustlers.

The Chairman of the committee set up by the state to return rustled cattle to their rightful owners has and Commissioner for Local Government Affairs in the state, Alhaji Murtala Garo, who disclosed this during a chat with journalists in Kano, said that part of the money was also used for the purchase of drugs used for the treatment of the animals as well as ensuring their security.

The committee, he said, has verified 816 owners of the recovered animals, out of whom 189 have had their animals returned to them.

Garo said, We must commend the state government for providing the money being used to feed the animals as government has directed that no single Kobo should be collected from owners of the animals.

According to him, the committee has so far received 3, 366 cows, 396 sheep, 11 camels, seven donkeys and four dogs recovered from rustlers, disclosing further that the committee had returned 2, 620 cows to their rightful owners out of the 3, 366 cows recovered from the rustlers in the state.

The committee had also returned 199 sheep, three donkeys and two dogs out of the 396 sheep, seven donkeys and four dogs recovered from the hoodlums.
