Yabatech boils as students protest the negligible death of mate

The serene environment that portends an academic domain for an A-list institution like the Yaba College of Technology, Yaba-lagos was disvirgined on Tuesday as students protest the death of their mate as a result of negligence by some staff of the college medical centre.

An eye witness account disclosed that the dead was a final year student of the department of office technology and management. She was identified as Miss Darzan Charity.

Our source said that the deceased took ill while sitting for an examination Monday afternoon and was subsequently assisted to the medical centre by a colleague of hers.

The medical personnels on duty at the centre with their usual litargy failed to give appropriate care only for her condition to deteriorate later in the evening of the day. With the stark reality of emergency, the medical director refered the patient to the federal medical centre, Ebutemeta, lagos.

At the federal medical centre, the personnel on duty demanded for a deposit of N35,000.00 before treatment could be administered. the fellow students who took her to the centre pleaded for mercy and it all fell on deaf ears. Between the period of transiting between the federal medical centre at Ebutemeta and the Yaba College of technology spanning between 12:00 am and 2:00am the patient gave up the ghost while modalities for the payment of the N35,000.00 deposit.

Following the news of the painful loss of the patience by share neglect into the college, the students became agitated and went on a protest that lasted from the morning hours to dead in the evening.
