By Ben Atu

In a closed door meeting which lasted beyond four hours in the wee hour of the morning between Governor Adams Oshiomhole and the Senator representing Edo North Senator Francis Alimikhena at the Abuja resident of the governor, the deputy chief whip of the senate assured the comrade governor that his good works and good will is the greatest weapon in the hand of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in facing other political parties in the fourth coming governorship election in the state. He stress that the All Progressive congress still holds the key in winning governorship election in the state even in the shortest notice, boasting that there is no threat whatsoever to the chance of the party winning the election.

Senator Alimikhena who spoke in a press release by his media Aide Benjamin Atu after the close door meeting said, ‘Nothing is special about his meeting with the comrade governor. According to him, ‘I am the governor’s senator we are in the same constituency in the same political party. It’s not news that I have a long meeting with him; it would have only become news if both of us are not on the same page. The governor has delivered on his campaign promises and has restored the fleeing glory of Edo North. What Edo State lost in PDP through Oshiomhole APC has brought restoration. You don’t change a winning team. The Edo State governor is still working all over Edo State as if he is contesting another election. We have no doubt that his end will be better than his beginning. He will finish strong for posterity to judge.

While commending the governor for the ban placed on the governorship campaign activities in the state by potential aspirant, the statement added that such ban will allow the governor to concentrate on governance and prevent electoral activities that will distract the ongoing massive development stride of the governor. The low level campaign will enable the governor to remain focus and give him time to monitor all ongoing projects as well as commission completed projects before major political activities can start. According to him, the wisdom behind the decision of the governor is for the overall interest of the state as against political interest saying that the silent of the governor is enough campaign that can guarantee the victory of the APC. In 2008, Oshiomhole resumed duty in the state with renew vigor and determination in ensuring that the dividend of democracy did not stop at the elite but go down to those that needed it most.

On his part, Governor Adams Oshiomhole describe Senator Francis Alimikhena as a dogged and rugged law maker whose influence in the senate has made several positive impart in the state. Apart from various human interest motions, Bills, and robust contribution in the floor of the senate, senator Alimikhena has made the state proud by galvanizing the legislative support needed for the approval of the World Bank developmental Loan given to the state despite the effort of the opposition in frustrating his effort. Within his first three month of being a senator, he uses the federal might in restoring the failed portion of the Auchi Agenebode road. Politics is all about effective representation and we have no fear over our choice of Senator Alimikhena in the senate the governor added.
