Defection: Idoma Group Blasts Ameh Ebute, Others; Condemn Kidnap Attempt On Abba Moro
Following the recent defection of some prominent members of the Peoples Democratic Party to All Progressives Congress ahead of the Benue-South rerun election slated for next month, the Enone Youth Solidarity Movement (EYSM), has carpeted the move, describing the defectors as unrepentant political prostitutes and saboteurs who lack integrity.
In a statement signed by the leader of the group, Charles Achadu, the group urged the people of Zone C to remain resolute on their decision to stand by Mark in this trying time of his political career. The group noted that it is pitiable and regrettably lugubrious that some of their elders in the Enone axis who have immensely benefited from Mark are being swayed by the carrot and stick antics of the APC in the state.
“When Sen. Ameh Ebute’s political relevance was completely dwindled, it was through Mark’s influence and benevolence that he was made the Board Chairman of National Open University of Nigeria by Goodluck Jonathan. A position he still enjoys till date”.
“Can Prof. Jerry Agada point out any meaningful thing he did for the Idoma people when he was Minister of State for Education among other positions he has held both at the state and federal level? Of what relevance is Lawani to the Idoma people if after serving for eight years as the number two man in Benue State and was unable to influence any project in Zone C. It is completely laughable when men like him who presided over the looting of the Benue peoples’ commonwealth is now criticizing Mark and being celebrated by the APC” the group said.
Achadu stressed that those trying to deploy the state and external apparatus to foist a representative on the Idoma people will be resisted. He noted that the likes of Ebute, Agada, Lawani and others who have sold out their consciences and birthrights like the biblical Esau, and are sworn saboteurs of our collective aspiration as a people should be ready to accept the consequences of their actions when the cock finally comes to roost. Speaking further, Achadu noted that “these men cannot deliver their polling units as they were all in PDP when the party lost the April 2015 elections to the APC”. He advised the APC to be extremely careful with such men who are perpetual sell-outs.
The group has also condemned the recent kidnap attempt on former Minister of Interior and Director General of David Mark Campaign Organization, Comrade Abba Moro. Achadu noted that the attempt was targeted at shutting the People’s Comrade up due to his outspokenness and doggedness in the campaign for the re-election of Mark. He called on the Nigerian Police to thoroughly investigate the case and bring the orchestrators of this mundane act to justice.
Achadu urged the Enone people and the entire Idoma nation to put the detractors to shame once again by voting massively for the Okpokpowulu Ki’ Idoma come February 20th, 2016.
