Rivalry In Ekiti APC As Two Spokespersons Emerge, Dipe, Olatunbosun Open

By Oluwole Ogunlola

Indications emerged over the weekend that factional spokespersons of the All Progressive Congress (APC), in Ekiti, Chief Taiwo Olatunbosun and Mr. Segun Dipe of the Action Group APC (AG-APC), are accusing each other of usurpation of roles.

Olatunbosun, who is said to be lobbying for the party's National Publicity Secretary post, accused his counterpart from the AG-APC faction of going too far, saying "he may call himself the party's spokesman, but not wherever I'm standing as the recognized spokesperson of the party in Ekiti."

Olatunbosun was said to have been angered by the statement issued by

Segun Dipe, condemning a revamped, Senator Gbenga Aluko, who declared

his governorship ambition last week.
Sources within the party disclosed that while Olatunbosun is working

for the emergence of the APC Deputy National Chairman (South), Asiwaju

Segun Oni as the party's flag bearer in 2018, Dipe is working for the

emergence of Senator Babafemi Ojudu and he (Dipe) was being positioned

to become the State Publicity Secretary in the event of the

dissolution of the State Exco of the party and appointment of

caretaker committee.
Ojumu is said to be lobbying Abuja for the dissolution of the Jide Awe

led State Exco of the APC, arguing that Awe, who is standing trial for

murder has been unable to function as the State Chairman.

Angry Olatunbosun was said to have equated the intellectual capacity

of Mr. Dipe to that of a toddler who has just started crawling with a

blank memory.
Reacting to Segun Dipe's claim as the substantive party's spokesperson

and challenging his (Olatunbosun) effrontery to have spoken for the

party against Senator Gbenga Aluko, Olatunbosun said he would have no

choice than to fire back.
Olatunbosun was said to have confided in an associate from Are-Ekiti,

that he will facilitate the collapse of the Action Group faction of

the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state if Dipe continue

insulting his person. That, once he become the party's national

spokesperson or state chairman, the process of eradicating factions in

the party shall top his agenda.
It was however learnt that Mr. Segun Dipe has cautioned the

controversial party's spokesperson, Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, to stop

castigating his (Dipe) activities in the media, saying the plot to

bring him down shall never succeed.
Segun Dipe further entrenched the fact that the unlawful activities of

Taiwo Olatunbosun, all in the name of acting in spokesperson capacity

of the APC, have spelled doom for the party in the state.

He added that, Olatunbosun, who was alleged of raping last year, has

no moral right parading himself as party's spokesperson in a decent

environment, or glowing in anticipation of becoming the party's state

chairman or National Publicity Secretary.
The duo, who silently claimed superiority over each other on issues of

national interest recently, have allegedly accused each other of

fanning embers among party members in the state.
"Olatunbosun is a spokesperson with questionable and controversial

character. It is of no need telling you all you already knew about him

since his eleventh hour defection into the APC in 2014.

"I'm only surprised seeing him galvanising efforts to become the

party's national publicity secretary. On what ground and what actually

gave him the gut, if only I may ask?
"I know Olatunbosun does not have what it takes to even be state

publicity secretary let alone eyeing the national," Segun Dipe said.

He advised Olatunbosun to take things easy and be less ambitious,

saying the forthcoming party's congress shall determine his fate and

that of his kind who value personal gain than party's progress.
