The worst would have been recorded yesterday if not for the immediate intervention of some rescuers who averted a fight between an alleged hired group and their contractors in Lagos that gathered to protest against the judgment of the Appeal Court, which declared the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate, Dr. Alex Otti the winner of Abia State governorship election.

The group who earlier took a peaceful demonstration and as reported when they faulted the recent judgment made by the Appeal Court in Owerri, which declared the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate, Dr. Alex Otti the winner of Abia State governorship election.

It however ended in a fight between them and their contractors who failed to fulfill the agreement reached before the protest.

Known as Abia Youth Team, the group had a very peaceful protest when they stormed the streets of Lagos in revolt to the Appeal Court’s judgment, but could not sustain it when the contractors tried escaping with the fund made available for the facilitation of their protest.

According to one of the aggrieved supporters of the non-existing group in Lagos, “We were individually invited to protest against Alex Otti’s Appeal Court victory. They agreed to pay each of us the sum of Two thousand naira after. We were handed placards, posters and flex designs, so we toured the major streets of Lagos while they took photos of us. When the agreed time elapsed, they urged us to follow them to another location, of which we insisted that they must pay for.

“After much argument, they agreed to our terms. When we were about ending, a government vehicle got to the place with a plated number ABGH30. Later, the vehicle tried escaping with the two men that contracted us, but we refused. Seeing how serious we were, they released an attack on us, and so we reacted back,” he explained.

Expected to end in bloodshed, but it got averted when some heavy rescuers stormed the scene and brokered peace among them. Yet, the alleged hired group threatened to expose them if they end up seeing their faces on any of the media platforms in the country.

While reacting, the Abia North senatorial candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) and Nigeria’s numero uno telecommunication owner, Chief Dr. David Ogba Onuoha otherwise known as Bourdex condemned the involvement of the youths, while advising that they should not allow themselves to be used by overzealous politicians.

The Abia North senator hopeful, Bourdex went further to state that when he saw the earlier report, he felt foul play, “I observed that most the people paraded were our Yoruba brothers with tribal marks. I even wondered how and where our Abia citizens got the tribal incision from. Our people should be careful of enemies of Abia. We need to be serious; enough of stage-managed protest and demonstrations.”
