A Terror Free World

By Chuma Mmeka

"A terror-free world is what everyone desires. Thing is: some will mouth it or just dream it, but Society for Peace seems to have a style that will keep African youths too positively busy and empowered to think of crime and violence. What style sells better than entertainment? This is where the Next Super Stars of Africa becomes interesting."

Listening to the respected Los Angeles attorney Dr. Godson M Nnaka speak at the launch of the project's #TerrorFreeWorld tag on December 6, 2015 one gets the well-placed impression of a humble, yet successful man with a clear vision of what he wants and how to go about it. Nnaka a US based Nigerian is the Director General Society for Promotion of Inter-Ethnic Peace in Nigeria, Africa a.k.a Society for Peace. In conjunction with the Terror Free World Movement USA, they have pieced together this multi-million naira package.

Dr. Nnaka told journalists and industry watchers that the project's mission was "...to promote the cause of peace among the people of Africa". Beginning with the “Next Super-Stars of Africa" Nigerian Edition, the #TerrorFreeWorld Project will establish an interface of Hollywood stars and locally based artistes and wannabes across Nigeria who can now aspire to hit the very top.

The #TerrorFreeWorld Project is packaged two-pronged. The first part involves an educational seminar/workshop where Hollywood Stars and their Nollywood counterparts will provide participating youths with knowledge, skills and counseling for life-changing opportunities in global entertainment. Part two is the talent audition/contests to discover unique Nigerian talents in the areas of acting, music/singing, dancing, modeling, fashion designing and make-up artistry. These will end in an International Benefit and Musical Concert to promote a movement for a #TerrorFreeWorld.

Winners will be awarded cash prizes, international contracts and exposure, and scholarships for further training in the United States and Europe. Participation is open to all interested Africans in Nigeria who scale through the zonal contests at Abuja, Lagos, Uyo and Owerri.

"We have chosen entertainment as the vehicle for the engagement of the youths because it is the activity that commands most of their attention and offers the best opportunity to harness their inner talents, provide career opportunities and jobs to help them attain fame and to achieve their dreams".

"Due to the prevalent idleness, unemployment, under-employment and professional confusion in the region caused by infrastructural deficits and little or no industries to create jobs, the entertainment field offers the best hope. Otherwise, the youths may well serve as willing recruitment for gangs and terrorist organizations".

#TerrorFreeWorld therefore invites all peace loving and well meaning Nigerian citizens, organizations, businesses, religious and community leaders, state and local governments to support this massive effort to end terrorism and peace.
