How Isoko Nation Can Build Entrepreneurial Leadership In Nigeria

Over five years now, I have been organizing entrepreneurial conferences and seminars in the South West of Nigeria, precisely Lagos State under Mindset Media Limited, publisher of Mandate Newspaper online to grow young minds in developing their own businesses with credibility.

It is capital-intensive program that needs consistent government support. There is need to bring such creative vision down to Isoko nation where young minds would be trained on how to develop their new businesses without politics in 2016. Politics seems to be taken over the entrepreneurial development in the region.

In one of the articles read online recently posted by one Isoko foreign-based lecturer where he academically stated that there is need for Isoko people to work beyond politics and some commented on it but the issue here, is to look beyond just social media platform and create functional institutions that can bring social and economic employment in Isoko. For Isoko nation to develop among the sixth biggest ethnic groups in Nigeria, it means, entrepreneurship must be given attention to both old and young minds in the land. We have over the years in Isoko depending solely on government monthly allocations which has negatively affected the developmental strides of the region.

Isoko nation is blessed with highly rich entrepreneurs that can bring their intellectual expertise to create massive employment for our youths and increase internal and external revenues to our local governments. One observation is that, we must remove sentiment if entrepreneurial leadership must progress in Isoko. How many functional private companies are sited in Isoko by our respected Isoko entrepreneurs? In the South East of Nigeria, an average Igbo entrepreneur who has a mega company in Lagos or Abuja would like to site a branch in his village to create entrepreneurial awareness for his people.Isoko is blessed with agricultural produces and tourism centres with spacious land for economic development.

For Isoko nation to thrive in entrepreneurial leadership, it needs people of the region to be united and improved on community leadership from different clans. Isoko politicians have their entrepreneurial limitations which needed people of passion to develop Isoko region.

If Isoko nation must make real significant progress in entrepreneurial leadership, it means, some well-known Isoko entrepreneurs like High Chief Immanuel Emoefe, High Chief Michael Orobosa Ubogu,Dr.Andrew Elueni, Prince Frank Egbodo,Adano Benson and others must join hands to move Isoko nation forward. The rural-urban drift could be curtained if private companies can be sited in Isokoland which one united front.

There is need to organize Isoko economic summit where our Isoko Development Union (IDU) and the two local government chairmen, Sir Hon.Itiako Ikpokpo and Hon. Emmanuel Egbabor must partner together to bring future entrepreneurial skills to the region. Apart from the regular empowerment programmes in Isoko by some political leaders to the people, many that passed through this trainings end up living in object poverty due to paucity of funds in their disposal. Since 2016 is new, let every notable Isoko entrepreneur sees the region at his or her heart now.
