Borno Govt Sets Up Committee To Ascertain Claims Of Fresh Abduction Of Girls

SAN FRANCISCO, December 02, (THEWILL) – The Borno State Governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima has constituted a seven-man committee to within three days ascertain the veracity of the reported fresh abduction of some girls by Boko Haram terrorists in Bam-Buratai, a community in Biu local government area of Borno State.

The committee was tasked to, at the end of the deadline, establish facts regarding the abduction, which was said to have happened over the last weekend, and report to the State Government.

Disclosing this in a statement he issued yesterday, Special Adviser to Governor Shettima on Communications and Strategy, Malam Isa Gusau explained that members of the committee were mostly selected amongst indigenes of Biu local government area where the affected community is located.

The committee is chaired by a member of the Borno State House of Assembly, representing Biu, Aliyu Mamman Kachalla, with Mrs Adama Badawi ‎as secretary. Other members ‎of the committee include Habib Yusuf, Engineer Baba Isa, Usman D.C. Buratai, Ibrahim Audu Miringa and Dr Hamma Adama Biu.

Meeting with members of the committee shortly after it was set up, Governor Shettima charged them to deploy every lawful means including interface with their kinsmen in the affected community and surrounding areas with a view to establishing all facts concerning the reported abduction and present findings to him no later than Friday, December 4, 2015 for appropriate action.

He however called on citizens to remain calm and go about their normal businesses assuring that the Borno State Government is working round the clock to support security agencies and youth volunteers in a combined and very determined commitment to ending the Boko Haram insurgency.
