The chairman and members of the Association of Online Publishers Association of Nigeria (GOCOP) have been urged to be fair in their reports and in the same token partner with President Muhammadu Buhari administration in rebuilding the nation's fragile economy.

Leader and 2015 governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Olorogun Otega Emerhor gave the charge in a congratulatory message to the association for the successful launch of GOCOM in Lagos on Thursday.

The goodwill message released by his Director of Media and Political Communication, Dr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, said online media in Nigeria is becoming robust and proactive with reasonable speed of information dissemination, adding that consistent will power is necessary to sustain ethical standards as well as proper censor of platforms by GOCOP to ensure that mediocre and gatecrashers do not rubbish the integrity of the association and its members.

He commended the efforts of the online media practitioners for their round the clock work hours, ensuring that Nigerians across the world are fed with timely and quality news and events to enable them add their views and opinions to political and socioeconomic issues in the on-going good governance of the APC change mantra.

Emerhor urged GOCOM to be patient with the APC national government and President Buhari in the steady process of re-building dilapidated infrastructures, moribund industries, near collapse patriotic spirit of the citizenry and the restoration of the peoples' confidence in governance.

The Delta APC Chieftain further asserted that the several strategic steps taken so far by Mr President, Nigerians now see light at the end of the tunnel, saying that since assumption of office on May 29, power generation and distribution improved tremendously due to the marching order from the presidency that economic sabotage will be resisted, saboteurs fished out and punished.

APC Delta is well pleased with the level of professionalism exhibited so far by online media practitioners now represented by GOCOM and it is hoped that your association will closely monitor members activities to further raise the standards of news service for the good of society, the statement added.
