BEVERLY HILLS, November 24, (THEWILL) – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Tuesday announced that it would conduct supplementary elections for the inconclusive Kogi State governorship election on December 5, 2015, the same day as the governorship election in Bayelsa State.

INEC in a statement signed by Secretary, Augusta Ogakwu, said the supplementary elections would be held in 91 polling units where elections were either cancelled or did not hold.

The commission also said the December 5 date would give the All Progressives Congress (APC) enough time to replace its deceased governorship candidate, Prince Abubakar Audu, who died on Sunday, a day after the election that was declared inconclusive held.

From the result formally declared by INEC, the APC has a clear 41, 353 lead ahead of the Peoples Democratic Party's (PDP), whose candidate is incumbent governor Idris Wada. There are 49, 953 registered voters in the 91 polling units. The election is a two-way race between both parties.
